Modern Slavery Statement
Modern Slavery Statement for Man and a Van Brixton
Man and a Van Brixton is committed to conducting all aspects of its operations in an ethical, responsible, and transparent manner. This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the steps we take to identify, prevent, and address the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking in our business and supply chains. It applies to all employees, subcontractors, agency workers, and suppliers associated with Man and a Van Brixton.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
We operate a strict zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, bonded labour, and child labour. We will not knowingly work with any organisation or individual that engages in or condones such practices. Our expectation is that everyone who works for or with us shares this commitment and upholds the same high standards.
All employment with Man and a Van Brixton is voluntary. Workers are free to leave their employment in line with applicable notice requirements, and they are not required to surrender identity documents, pay deposits, or incur recruitment fees. We are committed to fair pay practices that comply with legal minimum wage requirements and relevant working time regulations.
Our Supply Chain and Supplier Standards
Our supply chain includes providers of vehicles, fuel, packing materials, storage facilities, equipment, maintenance services, recruitment agencies, and other related services. We recognise that some sectors and geographic regions carry a higher risk of modern slavery, and we are committed to assessing and addressing these risks on an ongoing basis.
We expect all suppliers and subcontractors to uphold our zero-tolerance stance. Where appropriate, we seek contractual commitments that suppliers will comply with all relevant anti-slavery and human trafficking laws and will implement effective due diligence in their own operations and supply chains. We reserve the right to end relationships with any supplier or partner found to be in breach of these commitments.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We aim to implement proportionate due diligence procedures for both new and existing suppliers. This may include obtaining information about their employment practices, sourcing arrangements, and compliance policies. Where we identify higher-risk relationships, we may undertake additional checks and require further assurances.
Man and a Van Brixton may conduct supplier audits or request evidence of compliance, such as workforce records or policy documentation. Audits may be announced or unannounced, and we expect full cooperation from suppliers. If non-compliance or concerns are identified, we will work with the supplier to implement corrective actions within a reasonable timeframe. Continued non-compliance may result in suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage all employees, contractors, and suppliers to speak up if they observe or suspect any form of modern slavery connected to our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised with a line manager, senior management, or through any internal reporting route made available by Man and a Van Brixton.
Reports can be made in good faith without fear of retaliation or detrimental treatment. All concerns raised will be taken seriously, treated as confidential as far as reasonably possible, and investigated promptly and fairly. Where appropriate, we will cooperate with law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our workforce. Training and guidance may be provided to employees whose roles involve procurement, supplier management, or supervision of subcontractors. This training is designed to help staff recognise potential indicators of exploitation and understand how to report concerns.
We also promote a culture of openness, where ethical conduct is valued and expected. Managers are responsible for ensuring that team members understand our zero-tolerance stance and that any concerns are escalated appropriately.
Monitoring, Governance, and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with the senior management of Man and a Van Brixton. They are tasked with monitoring the effectiveness of our policies, procedures, and controls, and with ensuring that appropriate improvements are implemented where necessary.
This Modern Slavery Statement will be reviewed at least once every year, or sooner if there are significant changes in our business operations, supply chains, or relevant legislation. The annual review will consider any reported incidents, outcomes of supplier audits, feedback from stakeholders, and evolving best practices. Any updates to our approach will be reflected in a revised statement, which will replace previous versions.
Man and a Van Brixton remains firmly committed to playing its part in the wider effort to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking, and to ensuring that our services are delivered with integrity, respect, and responsibility.
